Environmental research at the University of St Andrews ranges from the origins of human evolution in the heart of Africa to the way the Earth and all its inhabitants are affected by human activity and climate change today.
What We Do
Music Planet is a network that draws together musicians, scientists, and other researchers at the University of St Andrews. We design and support events that investigate the relationship between humans and their environment through the vehicle of the performing arts. Rooted in both the Music Department and the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, we seek to connect audiences to environmental change the way they connect to art and music. From classical to contemporary music, and from traditional repertoire to new compositions, our events present an innovative integration of research and artistic expression that challenges all participants to consider our personal and societal relationships with the changing environment around us. Our three-year project aims to educate as well as inspire with musical experiences that provide a new way of working for researchers across the arts and sciences.
