The Health Psychology Group consists of health, clinical and academic psychologists with interests in improvement, provision and training within the health sector. We enjoy excellent facilities within the Medical School to enable our laboratory study of human behaviour with a health perspective to develop new theoretical and practical investigations and discoveries.
Applications are tested in simulation and in the ‘field’ in the NHS and 3rd sector organisations. Interests include: health care communication, cancer recurrence fears, nutrition, obesity, work stress, and health behaviours (e.g. smoking cessation, physical exercise and dietary intake). Methodologies employed include intensive behavioural observation, longitudinal panels, interviews, and mixed methods.
