CoB Meeting Day – 1st September 2022

The Centre of Biophotonics celebrated a workshop on the  1st September 2022. The event was attended by 55 researchers working across four Schools (Physics and Astronomy, Medicine, Biology, Psychology and Neurosciences) and focused on talks given by PhDs, PDRAs and Early Career Researchers. The three sessions were chaired also by PDRAs and showcased the excellence and diversity of Biophotonics research being carried out at St Andrews. We heard fantastic talks by Dr Hassan Hafeez, Dr Philip Wijesinghe, Dr Remi Fritzen, Ms Jianyi Mai, Dr Pierce Mullen, Dr Vanya Metodieva, Dr Matthew Broadhead and Dr Anna Lippert. This was followed by Dr Juan Varela and Dr Marcus Bischoff telling us about the capabilities of two recent CoB acquisitions, the Imaris Image processing software and the AiryScan super-resolution microscope. The poster session was followed by passionate scientific discussions at the pub!

The CoB Management Group thanks the speakers for their excellent talks, the chairs (Dr George Dwapanyin, Dr Amy Dorward and Dr Josephine Morizet) for the hard work of keeping the speakers on time! and everyone for attending. We promise to maintain this tradition at least once a year, so keep the 1st September free on your 2023 calendars! The CoB MG thanks the School of Physics and Astronomy for financial support of this event.
