Levenmouth Whale Project Presentation

On Wednesday 27th January 2021, Dr Monica Arso Civil took part in a presentation and Q&A session hosted by the Levenmouth Whale Project. Her talk covered lots of interesting information about the East Coast bottlenose dolphin population and the work carried out by the Sea Mammal Research Unit and the University of Aberdeen to monitor this population. Monica also presented the Citizen Fins project and how to participate by submitting photographs. If you have taken any photos of the East Coast bottlenose dolphins (in any year), please submit them here.

Ronnie Mackie from the Forth Marine Mammal Group led the other half of the presentation, with lots of facts and figures about all the amazing marine mammal species that have been sighted in the Firth of Forth. You can find out more about the Forth Marine Mammal Group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/377706222613082/. A full recording of the talk will eventually be put up on the Levenmouth Whale Project blog site.

The Levenmouth Whale Project is planning to install a 1000-foot long pier off the Fife coast, along with a visitor centre and a 100-foot sculpture of humpback whales. This will provide a great local attraction in the Levenmouth area and a fantastic viewing platform over the Firth of Forth!
